CHERRYFIELD COLLEGE IN THE LAST ONE YEAR
I acknowledge the fact that God has always been for us since the inception of the school. As usual, the situation did not change at any moment in the just concluded academic session as He saw us through all activities of the session without any hitch. As regards academic work, I assure you that the members of staff are exerting their effort to create the enabling environment that aids the teaching-learning process. This is evident in the results of our external examinations, including the last Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
In line with a popular belief, Cherryfield College is not all about academics. Students involve in extracurricular activities that refresh them and boost learning. As it has also been the culture of the school, our students participated in internal and external competitions, in which they were in no way relegated to the background. The internal competitions range from inter-house debating competitions, which develop students in the art of public speaking and critical thinking, to sports competitions while external competitions include Common Wealth Competition, Scripps Spelling Bee competition and a host of others. It will interest you to know that our students were at the top of such external competitions as they come home with one medal or the other.
A memorable occasion, the Cultural Day event, was held in this session and students displayed their cultural affinities in the various cultural activities. Parents and guests who attended the occasion are witnesses to the huge success recorded in the biennial cultural event. At this juncture, I once again appreciate parents for their immense support in the ceremony.
The contributions of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the success of the just concluded academic year cannot be underestimated. The executives of the association in conjunction with the school organized a speech and prize-giving day, the very first of its kind in the history of the school. During this programme, students were not only rewarded for their outstanding academic performance as well as moral decency but staff members were also given different awards. I am sure that this programme has come to stay in the college as it is a source of encouragement to students and staff.
I use this medium to appreciate all parents for their cooperation and assure them that we have competent people who impart the right knowledge in their wards. The Lord will continue to grant us the grace to satisfy you as we work hand in hand to make Cherryfield College a better place. Long live Cherryfield College.
